Queen’s Park head coach Gus MacPherson has released seven players in the wake of the club finishing bottom in Scottish football for only the second time since they were formed in 1867.
Long-serving defender Jamie Brough heads the list of players being released and he is joined by goalkeeper Lucas Birnstingl, Kris Gebbie, Liam Gormley, Michael Keenan, Grant Mosson and Joao Vitoria.
Ten players have been retained, including the highly sought-after Blair Spittal, with David Anderson, Ross Fisher, Paul Gallacher, Scott Gibson, Alex Grier and Thomas Collins all offered the chance of another season.
MacPherson said: “We have had to make some tough decisions regarding the present squad as the players worked tirelessly during what was a difficult season.
“Their application, commitment and effort are to be commended. The players leave with our sincere thanks and best wishes for the future.”

Dundee rivals pursue Queen's Park midfielder Blair Spittal

Dundee United and Dundee have both agreed terms with Queen's Park midfielder Blair Spittal.
Spittal will now meet United manager Jackie McNamara and his Dundee counterpart, Paul Hartley, before making a decision on his future.
And Pro-Legal Sports Management, who represent Spittal, confirmed interest from a third Premiership club.
The 18-year-old scored 12 goals in 41 appearances for the League Two side last season.

Leider. Aber anscheinend geht es finanziell nicht anders. Ich habe zwar keine Ahnung von den QPFC Finanzen, aber kann es mir doch denken. Ob es für den Spieler nicht doch besser wäre, noch wenigstens eine Saison in den unteren Klassen anzuhängen (zumindest bis zum Winter TF) um sich wirklich zu beweisen?
Queen's Park ist finanziell absolut sicher.
Die SFA zahlt Millionen für das Privileg im Hampden spielen zu dürfen bzw. dass Queen's Park ihn nicht verfallen lässt und in ein passenderes Stadion zieht. Alle Spieler sind mit Amateur-Verträgen ausgestattet und bekommen kein Gehalt, ebenfalls der ehrenamtliche Vorstand.
Mit 17/18 Erfahrung in der besten Liga des Landes zu sammeln ist brillant, noch dazu mit Gehalt!
Spittal lässt sich wohl von dem Beispiel Andrew Robertsons' verlocken, wobei es bei Dundee United ohnehin schon einen großen Konkurrenzkampf gibt und deren kürzliche Verpflichtung von Telfer lässt den Wechsel zu den Dees doch sehr wahrscheinlich wirken.
Hoffen wir er schlägt ähnlich wie Robertson ein.
Ja, wenn man keine Gehälter zahlt kann es eigentlich nie wirklich eng werden :D
Shankland und Connolly sind ja auch noch da (bei Aberdeen und United), mal sehen, was die nächste Saison reißen können, und ob Spittal dazukommt. Das Talent wird er wohl haben, auch wenn nicht jeder einen so kometenhaften Aufstieg vollziehen kann wie Robertson.
Ich denke aber inzwischen fast, dass die Dees auch mehr zahlen als United...
