Romeu Romão willing to play for Chennaiyin FC - Ready to ditch Europa League
Brazilian footballer Romeu Péricles Romão, who currently plays for Maltese Premier League club Sirens FC, has expressed his desire to play for Chennaiyin FC. TMIndia understands that Romeu’s representatives have already offered the player to the club.
Speaking to D4 Sports on Instagram - “The news is that my club here in Malta wants to renew my contract for me to play in the UEFA Europa League,” the 30-year-old said. “I put a clause in my contract that, if I go to India the only club that can sign me is Chennaiyin FC. Now it is in their hands,” the right-back added.
Romeu also added that it is his dream to wear the Chennaiyin FC jersey and is waiting for the club and his agent to strike the right deal.

Valued at ₹10.42m, Romeu had a decent season with Sirens where he finished with 4 assists in 18 matches. A versatile right-back who can also play as a defensive midfielder and on the wing, the 30-tear-old would bring with him a wealth of experience.
The ISL runners up are yet to finalise a coach for the upcoming season and have maintained a staunch silence in the transfer market. With the player himself openly expressing his desire to join the club, leaving aside a competition like UEFA Europa League, it will be interesting to see how Chennaiyin FC reacts.
