Patson Daka: Leicester City in pole position? - RB Leipzig have agreement
Despite an agreement in principle with RB Leipzig, Patson Daka appears to prefer a move to the Premier League. The striker has been heavily linked with a move to Leicester City. The Telegraph reported on Thursday that talks between Leicester and Red Bull Salzburg have advanced and that a deal in the region of €35 million has been accepted.
The proposed fee would be a new record departure for RB Salzburg. The fee would also represent more than what RB Leipzig had expected to pay for the striker. The two Red Bull clubs, Leipzig and Salzburg were expected to agree on a fee in the region of €25 million. That deal is now in jeopardy with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Leicester had their deal accepted.
Due to the link between Salzburg and Leipzig, the German Bundesliga side were the favorites to land the striker. But Leipzig have missed out on a top signing in the past. In January 2020 then Salzburg striker Erling Haaland opted to join Borussia Dortmund rather than Leipzig. Daka would become the 19th player to move from Salzburg to Leipzig should the transfer go through against all expectations.
