East Bengal parting with Quess - Retains Mario Rivera
Many uncertainties loom large over East Bengal FC but the club is clear on two counts. Firstly, it is parting ways with Quess, the club’s principal investor for the last two years. Secondly, it has decided to stick with Spanish coach, Mario Rivera, at least for next season, Times of India reported.
The Red and Golds, sans Quess, have been very active in the transfer market. They have reportedly sign Iranian-Indian Omid Singh, along with Balwant Singh, Lalramchullova, Sehnaj Singh. The club is also reported to have roped in several youngsters to form the club’s reserve side. It’s to make believe that the century-old club is preparing for Indian Super League. But for the time being, uncertainty looms large over their ISL participation rather than certainty.
In this context, retaining Mario Rivera is considered to be a safe bet. He will continue as the head-coach if East Bengal’s hope of making it to ISL doesn’t bear fruits. If it does, he can still continue as an assistant to whoever is appointed.
Certain reports have it that East Bengal officials were keen to retain the Spaniard even before the league was hampered by Corona. TM however understands that the club was keen on having an Indian coach currently working with FC Goa. A renowned Indian Football journalist twitted about it this morning.
Moreover, Quess have made it clear that they are severing all ties with East Bengal in a mail to players on Saturday citing that Quess East Bengal FC, the JV Sports Management company between Quess Corp Ltd. and East Bengal Club will ceases to exist. “The current football season, 2019-20, is incidentally also the last season before the cessation and dissolution of Quess East Bengal FC, the JV Sports Management company between Quess Corp Ltd. and East Bengal Club,” the mail read.
Quest East Bengal FC have also terminated contracts with all its players and activated the Force Majeur clause to forfeit players May salaries. “Due to this unprecedented conditions Quess East Bengal FC Pvt. Ltd. will be hence rendered unable to carry out its principle objective of managing and running football matters which is the underlying principle objective of its existence,” the mail continued.
It’s now all up to the East Bengal club management to steer the club ahead in its 100th Year.
